At Godfrey’s Pond, we pride ourselves on offering a diverse range of shooting sports, catering to enthusiasts of all skill levels. Our facilities are designed to provide a safe, enjoyable, and challenging environment for all participants.
Trap Range
Our regulation 5 position trap range features an electric trap, allowing shooters to practice their skills with efficiency and precision. Please note that participants are required to bring their own clay targets.
Rifle Range
The Rifle Range at Godfrey’s Pond is equipped for year-round use, featuring covered firing points and bench rests to ensure comfort and safety. We offer a variety of shooting distances, including 25-yard, 50-yard, and extended ranges of 100 and 200 yards. The Rifle Range is only closed 10 times a year from 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. These dates will be posted on our website calendar as soon as they are confirmed by the Association.
Archery Courses
For archery enthusiasts, we offer two distinct courses:
- Target Archery Course: A straightforward course for those looking to hone their precision and accuracy.
- Field Archery Course: This 15-target course meanders through wooded rolling hills, providing a natural setting that tests both skill and endurance.
Both courses are open year-round, providing ample opportunity to practice and enjoy the sport of archery.
Education and Training
Godfrey’s Pond holds official New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Hunter Education and Bowhunter Education courses.
These courses are taught by NYS DEC Certified Instructors and follow the curriculum established by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Participants who successfuly complete the course receive a New York State certification that is recorded with the NYS DEC.

Youth and Ladies Shooting League!
Second Saturday of the month May-September, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rifle Range
This summer presents a fantastic opportunity for families interested in hunting and shooting sports. The Youth Shooting League invites young adults (Ages 12-17) and ladies to participate in a special event designed to educate and enhance skills in a safe and controlled environment.
The Youth Shooting League has a rich tradition of teaching young adults the fundamentals of shooting rifles. And NEW will be the ladies league. These events are not only about learning to shoot but also about developing valuable skills that will be beneficial during the hunting season. It’s a perfect blend of education and sport, fostering both safety and proficiency.
Event Highlights
- Certified Instructor: The event will be held at the Rifle Range under the supervision of a certified instructor, Kandi Lehsten, with the event led by Director, Doug Landry. Their expertise ensures that participants are guided with proper techniques and safety measures.
- Safety First: Safety is the foremost priority of the Youth Shooting League. The event is conducted in a controlled environment where all necessary precautions are taken to ensure the well-being of participants. Ear protection is required; eye protection is strongly encouraged.
- Skill Development: Participants will gain hands-on experience with rifles, learning important tips and techniques that can significantly improve their hunting and shooting abilities. Experience is NOT required and instruction/guidance will be provided for novices.
- Provided: Rifles and ammo.
- FYI – Two shoot tables on the east side in the pavilion (Rifle Range side) will be reserved for these events.
