Are you looking to make a difference at Godfrey’s Pond while honing your skills and working on meaningful projects? The Pond is seeking dedicated individuals to take on various projects that are essential to our operations and conservation efforts. Whether you’re a hands-on professional or someone with a knack for organizing, there’s a role for you!
STONE MASON:
We are seeking a Stone Mason to help rebuild the grist stone monument next to the Dick Chase main Kiosk. Additionally, there’s a stone wall by the docks that needs some attention. If you have the skills and expertise in masonry, your contribution would be invaluable to preserving these important structures.
CARPENTER OR HANDY PERSON:
A carpenter or handyperson is needed to tackle the bay window area on the southeast wall of the Caretaker’s house. While we can provide the necessary materials, we need someone with the vision and ambition to bring this project to life. Your craftsmanship can help maintain the structural integrity and aesthetic beauty of the property.
GENERAL HELPERS:
We are looking for people who can spare a few hours to tinker, paint, landscape, and more. If you enjoy hands-on tasks and want to contribute to the upkeep of our beloved Pond, please reach out to Matt Horstkotter at 585-590-2428.
Revitalizing the Fish and Fowl Project
Since the 1970s, the Fish and Fowl Project has been a cornerstone of our conservation efforts. As many of the original members have moved on, we’re now trying to maintain this important project with a part-time director and occasional help. We are in need of:
- A new manager who is passionate about wildlife and conservation.
- Volunteers who can dedicate time to caring for the critters and fish.
If you’re semi-retired or have plenty of free time, we would love to talk with you. The current director plans to retire soon, providing an opportunity for fresh ideas and leadership. We’re open to new visions, whether it’s through a new manager, an active committee, or a complete revamp of the project.
Get Involved!
If you have ideas or are interested in helping or volunteering, please contact the Executive Board through any Officer or send a note to Info@godfreyspond.com. You can also reach out directly to President Mike Hammon at 315-406-8937. We’re eager to hear from you and to work together to continue our conservation heritage.
Join us in making a lasting impact at the Pond! Your skills, enthusiasm, and commitment can help us achieve great things.
